Current Status and Future Trends in Cloud Computing

Cloud Computing

Cloud Computing is just like the digitization of warehousing to reduce the infrastructure cost of the companies in order to store and safeguard the data of clients. It was first introduced in 2006 when AWS (Amazon Web Services) launched and soon adopted by Google on the entry of Google App Engine in 2008.

Cloud Computing provides the potential for processing massive workloads along with improved mobility and collaboration. Cloud monitoring tools are becoming mandatory in every industry for promoting analysis.

Current Status of Cloud Computing Industry

Some study shows that the Cloud Computing

Industry is soon divided into various parts according to the location and services provided by the cloud system.

Cloud Location-Based Division:

Internet-based computing for network or data access from the pool of shared resources are managed by the service provider according to the location is known as location-based cloud computing.

There are four types of clouds on location-based:

  • Public Cloud
  • Private Cloud
  • Hybrid Cloud
  • Community Cloud

Public Cloud:
The infrastructure of cloud having facilities for the general public to be owned, operated and managed by a business, academic or government organization and it is located on the premises of cloud service provider.

Private Cloud:
A single organization who is having multiple customers can utilize the private cloud facility with the exclusive provisions and may or may not be inside the premises of the cloud service provider.

Hybrid Cloud:

The combination of the provisions of both private and public cloud depending on the purpose is known as Hybrid Cloud. One can store the important applications on the cloud server to keep more secure and use it elsewhere.

Community Cloud:
Provisions of usage is exclusive for the particular community in the cloud service provider is called Community Cloud. An organization can share its resources with another organization with restricted usage

Cloud Service Based Division:
It is also known as a cloud computing stack because it can develop on top of another service. It is divided into four categories:

  • Infrastructure-as-a-Service (Iaas)
  • Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS)
  • Software-as-a-Service (SaaS)
  • Functions-as-a-Service (FaaS)

Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS):

The user can rent any IT infrastructure that is virtual machines from a cloud provider on the basis of pay-as-you-go. Here the user can only access or delete the data. Ex: Amazon, Flexiscale, etc.

Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS):

It involves the sharing of an on-demand environment for developing, testing and managing the software applications with the infrastructure of servers, network, storage, and database.

Software-as-a-Service (SaaS):

Sharing of the Software Application over the internet as per the subscription basis. It helps to manage the software application to handle any maintenance.

Functions-as-a-Service (FaaS):

It is another layer of PaaS, in which the particular functional block of code alone can be shared for certain events. .

Benefits of Cloud Computing:

Most of the organizations from tiny startups to government sectors are adopted to this cloud computing for sending mail, document editing and watching movies and so on. Some of the benefits are as follows:

  • Create new applications and services
  • Launch own websites and blogs
  • Data analyze for patterns
  • Predictions making
  • Audio and Video Streaming
  • Sharing on-demand software services

Future Trends in Cloud Computing

Cloud Computing Sector generated a huge revenue of $272 Billion Dollars in 2018 and it has increased more to $623.3 Billion by 2023 at CAGR (Compound Annual Growth Rate) as of the emerging trends are improving. Some of the factors are as follows:

Massive Growth:

The development of new services like FaaS and BaaS (Backend-as-a-Service) along with the existing IaaS, SaaS, and PaaS services are the backbone of the aggressive growth of Cloud Computing technology. The global cloud computing market size is expected to grow much more to improve the performance of the above services.

Storage Capacity Increased:

The increase of the storage capacity is one of the aspects in the growth of cloud computing. End of this year 2019, cloud storage is expected to reach 2 ZB (Zettabyte) due to the general people also make use of Google Drive and Dropbox for storing their personal information.

Cheaper Storage Solutions:

It costs less than 10 cents to maintain 1 TB of cloud storage. This cost continues to fall down as per the demand increases in the market by the massive growth of the usage.

Server-Less Cloud Computing:

Before this cloud computing technology companies have used a server for processing and storing the data. Cloud Computing changes the way by giving them a storage facility along with with improved efficiency, effortless and low cost. This leads the company to go for server-less technology which allows the developer to build and run the application anywhere without any infrastructure.

Cloud-Based Container Systems:

Cloud computing replaced the virtual machines to the cloud-based container system which contains applications, dependencies, libraries and other configuration files required for the system to run.

IoT (Internet of Things):

Devices such as household appliances, cars, electronics which are connected to IoT used Cloud Computing to generate data and make use of the patterns.

5G Network:

As the IT services today depend on Cloud Computing, the upcoming 5G network is expected to use the technology for reliable and high-speed internet connections.

Conclusion:

There are some more factors which could be the reason for the cloud computing trend to take into the next level. Therewith the demand for hiring cloud computing professionals also will be increased in the following years.
